Namibia's Wild Dogs need your help urgently!
Those of you who have met our 13 Wild Dog pups know how important this group is to the national Wild Dog population. Current free-ranging population numbers are estimated between 200-400 individuals. And that is being optimistic.
Not one to shy away from a challenge, N/a'an ku se is taking the lead in conserving this critically endangered predator.
The main reasons for the decline in wild dogs in Namibia are the lack of knowledge, experience and action. N/a'an ku se has united conservation agencies across Namibia but we cannot move forward without guidance from experts across the world on wild dog management and reintroduction. We urgently need to hold an international workshop in early October 2011 and have invited experts in Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe who are all keen to help Namibia develop a national strategy for using captive stock effectively for reintroduction of wild dogs.
The Namibian Wild Dog free-ranging population is reaching a critical state and everyone is in agreement that if we do not act now we face the extinction of wild dogs in Namibia.
N/a'an ku se is sending out an SOS appeal to all our supporters for a small contribution of N$50 or €5. If every one of you donated this amount we would raise exactly the amount we need to host the workshop - N$105,190 (€10,260).
Please consider taking a packed lunch to work tomorrow or go a couple of days without a Starbucks coffee, and donate the money you would have spent to Namibia's wild dogs and help us take a giant step forward for conservation.
