"As many of you know, our Big Five of India Safari is currently in progress, and while we have had major wildlife sighting success, yesterday we received shocking news! The Indian Prime Minister has announced that India close down all Indian national parks with tiger populations to visitors in a desperate attempt to save some of the last tigers for a bit longer time. The 2010 census showed only 1,411 tigers, but right now they think they have about 1,300. Even one of the last WWF conferences on Bengal Tigers admitted that it would take a miracle for the Bengal not to be extinct in the wild by 2025.
While visitors are not a threat to the tigers, poachers are. About 200 tigers are killed each year, which is more than double that of their birth rate. This means in less than 15 years tigers will no longer exist on this Earth in a natural, wild population. The goal of this initiative is to aggressively target poachers without the risk of potentially endangering visitors.
The parks are slated to close latest by 2014, and for this reason, we are announcing last minute departures in March/April of 2012. This is your last chance to see Tigers in the wild. Don’t wait! "
